ReplyDeleteIt's actually not known how he died. It is widely believe that he died in a fire. Some believe he escaped to Suriname and lived under a different name.

Lionel Robbins also claims his murder by his valet(not cook) in his History of Thought lectures at the LSE.

DeleteIt's been claimed that he fabricated his own death to end a lot of litigation and yes, apparently some personal papers of his were found in Surinam years later
