It doesn't get much more local than your own backyard

Very front two mounds are cantaloupe, butternut squash behind that, butternut squash and acorn squash behind that, and that back two mounts are pie pumpkins. the little clump of green towards the front are jalapenos that I started there before expanding - going to transplant them to their own bed this week. The clay pots just outside of the log border have cherry pits growing in them - I'm just going to see what happens with that.  Maybe we'll have some young cherry trees to take with us to the next house. My house growing up had a cherry tree, so there's something nostalgic about that for me.

The future jalapeno bed (the bed on the right of the picture is the corner of the cantaloupe). The small plant to the right of the jalapeno bed is a blackberry bush (no fruit this year probably but growing nicely).

All the squash are probably going to have trellises or tee-pees eventually to economize on space, but I started with the pumpkins in the back (which are growing the fastest so far). Nothing big but something to get them growing both up and out.

Close-up on the acorn squash. Only one mound of that, but a good healthy mound so far.
