1) Buchanan made it a point to stay out of national politics. His only real venture into it was to show support for a balanced budget amendment. He did, however, write a piece in the Journal of Monetary Economics titled "The Political Ambiguity of Reagan Economics: Marginal Adjustment or Structural Shift?"
2) Outside of possibly giving some lecture for the Society, I can't imagine what dealings he would have had with the organization.
3) Once again, it would have been out of character for Buchanan to have any comment on state politics.
4) It would be odd if there were actually any written pieces on this subject, but I'm sure you can guess what his position would have been.
