Has anyone else ever had problems "ssc install"ing stata programs with Windows 8?
I don't know if it's Windows 8, but it's weird enough in other respects that I wonder if it is. I ran and saved the .ado files and .hlp files "manually" and it all works fine, but that's kind of annoying. Anyone have any experience with this?
Not sure about your problem Daniel (I run Stata on a linux server at my work), have you tried using findit and then manually clicking the download button after clicking on the program. I know it involves a couple extra steps but easier than pulling directly from the internet.
Don't know what you've tried already, but it might help to disable any and all firewalls for Stata. Also if it is for some reason some weird problem with windows 8 you might try windows compatibility mode. Anyway those are just my initial thoughts, let me know if you're still having problems, you might have solved this problem already.
