Why do miracles "happen with great frequency in Africa, and not here in the USA?" asked a 700 Club patron Ken. "People overseas didn't go to Ivy League schools," Robertson replied with a chuckle."We are so sophisticated, we think we've got everything figured out," the Christian Broadcasting Network chairman continued. "We know about evolution, we know about Darwin, we know about all these things that says God isn't real, we know about all this stuff." According to Robertson, it's the "skepticism and secularism" that is being taught at "the most advanced schools" around the country that is keeping God's miracles at bay.
.
Let's not even get into whether miracles are real or not. Let's say they are absolutely real for the sake of argument.
Given that they are real, you can't maybe think of a better explanation of why miracles are more prevalent in Africa than in the United States than that we are being smarty-pants about evolution and that scares God off from doing miracles?
You have all the building blocks right there in front of you, Pat!
Just put it all together a little differently!
He doesn't believe miracles happen in the United States? Has he never used a smart phone or computer? Has he never flown in an airplane? Have none of his children been saved by inoculation against childhood diseases? Has he never seen a picture taken by the Hubble telescope? Does he not know anyone who has had cataract or bypass surgery?
ReplyDeleteWe live surrounded by miracles. I don't believe in God but I sure believe in practical miracles.
Assuming that miracles are real, it is likely that they happen more often in Africa because people there have more faith in them. Someone (Dinesen?) cured illness by laying a letter by the king of Sweden (IIRC) on people's chests, until the letter crumbled from the practice.
