Don't get me wrong - it's a beautiful song. I'm just not sure why it keeps popping up in my Christmas music Pandora station. I don't remember hearing it at all on there last year. Did the hymnalists get together and reclassify it in their Summer 2011 meeting or something?
When something like this happens to me, I try and count my blessings.
ReplyDeleteThe song waxes and wanes in its popularity; right now it has a strong showing in significant part because of its use last season in "Friday Night Lights."
ReplyDeleteBy way of example, the aria "La Momma Morta" has the same sort of sign wave trajectory; its most recent highpoint being after its use in the movie "Philadelphia."
Carl Orff's "O Fortuna" seems to also wax and wane in its use; the most interesting use of late that I know being in a Carlton beer commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH3GH7Pn_eA
Hmm. How enlightening. LOL
ReplyDeleteBeing an Austro-libertarian who happens to like Ron Paul, I can only cringe when I see comments like that. What can ya do?
