I'm not quite sure what I think of Keynes's most prominent biogrpaher, Robert Skidelsky. He's clearly not just a "vulgar Keynesian", but he never seems to completely get it either. I never know what to think when people give the thumbs up to Russ Roberts's Keynes vs. Hayek rap by saying "Skidelsky said it was accurate". So? Who the hell cares what Skidelsky says - I'M saying it's taking some pretty weird liberties.
Anyway, it's not a good sign when Skidelsky writes this:
"In The General Theory of Employment, Wages and Interest, Keynes ends by summarizing the strengths and weaknesses of the capitalist system..."
I'm quoting it here in case the site is updated. Keynes never wrote a book of that title, and his biographer oughta know that.
At first I thought "maybe it was initially released in the UK under a different title".
ReplyDeleteIf it was, the internets are not aware of it.
That one was authored by John Hicks Keynes, right?
