I don't claim to be an expert on American public infrastructure, but when I used public transportation in some parts of the United States (namely, Amtrak, which I used to visit a friend in New Jersey), I got the feeling that some stuff was really stretching the limit of its use-life, and needed upgrades.

Would it require as much money as some say? Perhaps yes, perhaps no. But my (admittedly limited) personal observation and experience indicates that these things aren't elaborate efforts in deceitful swindling.Blue Aurorahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02044362251868221897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740670447258719504.post-68153779353973287022013-10-24T11:30:07.120-04:002013-10-24T11:30:07.120-04:00Well, if the evidence is mixed I don't see why...Well, if the evidence is mixed I don't see why some people have such a strong preference for the program. Distal outcomes are much harder to attribute to a specific source than proximal outcomes. As noted in some of the studies other factors can come into play, such as the poor performing schools that Head Start kids often go into.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11353308008658130219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740670447258719504.post-15506817834067147232013-10-23T11:13:18.643-04:002013-10-23T11:13:18.643-04:00Kendra: There is a difference between short term a...Kendra: There is a difference between short term and long term benefits (and it is the lasting benefits that Anonymous here is discussing): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_Start_Program#EffectivenessTauhttp://www.tau.sigma.epsilon.omega.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1740670447258719504.post-45245816207713114942013-10-21T11:00:44.255-04:002013-10-21T11:00:44.255-04:00Head Start has been shown to have benefits (http:/...Head Start has been shown to have benefits (http://www.nhsa.org/files/static_page_files/399E0881-1D09-3519-AD56452FC44941C3/BenefitsofHSandEHS.pdf).
